Product Development Engineer
General Summary
- Design and Develop medical textile based products covering all textile applications.
- interaction with key customer contacts and engineering staff.
- Develop products based on customer needs and specifications. Research new technologies required to meet customer’s needs.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead and function as a contributing member of multidisciplinary project teams in the design, development, and manufacturing of medical device components and related products and processes with a concentration on: knitting, braiding, weaving and non-woven processes.
- Support project teams on selecting materials, appropriate manufacturing techniques, and developing textile components for medical device design.
- Interact with customers, medical device engineers to understand the unmet needs and offer solutions.
- Interact with outside vendors, suppliers, and consultants.
Education and/or Experience:
Required
- MS in Textile Science & Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Bio Medical Engineering or equivalent.
- Minimum of 5-10 years of experience in new product development.
- Direct experience with Knitting, Weaving, Braiding or Non-woven product development.
- Experience managing and creating solutions comprised of multiple technologies.
- Must be capable of handling multiple projects/tasks at the same time.
- Experience overcoming complex technological hurdles.
Preferred Qualifications
- 2-5 years experience in medical devices product/process development with technical acumen.
- Experience in working with permanent and bioabsorbable polymer based materials. Experience with fine denier constructions.
- Knowledge of medical device regulations and /or qualifications within ISO13485.
