Title: Staff Sales Engineer

General Summary

  • Manage new opportunities through development pipeline and participate in existing product improvement and account management.
  • Contribute and identify new designs or techniques to solve technical challenges or improve existing products or processes throughout the feasibility, development and production cycles.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical and account management support to Sales.
  • Lead and function as a contributing member of multidisciplinary project teams in the design, development, and manufacturing of medical device components and related products and processes with a concentration on: knitting, braiding, weaving and non-woven processes.
  • Support project teams on selecting materials, appropriate manufacturing techniques, and developing textile components for medical device design.
  • Interact with customers, medical device engineers to understand the unmet needs and offer solutions.
  • Interact with outside vendors, suppliers, and consultants.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Required
  1. MS in Textile Science & Engineering, Polymer Science, Chemical Engineering, Bio Medical Engineering or allied field.
  2. Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in an industrial environment as a technical leader and/or project leader.
  3. Adept, hands-on engineer with extensive experience in the development of textile based products and processes. Good understanding of polymer physics, material characterization, structure-property relations and utilization towards application development.
  4. Ability to work in a team-oriented environment that embraces change, risk, and flexibility.
  5. Must be capable of handling multiple projects/tasks at the same time.
  6. Demonstrated ability to work independently and within a team with sense of urgency against timelines. Demonstrated ability to listen to customers’ needs, develop solutions to meet their requirements, trust and respect.


  • Preferred Qualifications
  1. Minimum of 2-5 years experience in medical devices product/process development with technical acumen.
  2. Experience in working with permanent and bioabsorbable polymer based materials.
  3. Knowledge of medical device regulations and /or qualifications within ISO13485.

  • Proven problem solving skills.
  • Good interpersonal relationship and people skills.
  • Knowledge of Design/Process Excellence (Six Sigma) is preferred but not required.
