BIOFELT
BIOFELT® is BMS’ non-woven, absorbable scaffold designed for implant devices and other in vivo applications. BIOFELT’s unique 3D structure provides a fibrous platform with high surface area and superior void volume to promote natural tissue in-growth and cellular regeneration at the site of surgery or damage. Currently, BIOFELT is used in clinical applications for dental and urological surgery, as well as cardiovascular and orthopedic tissue regeneration for arteries, heart valves, and cartilage.
BMS offers a full line of BIOFELT tissue scaffolds manufactured from a variety of synthetic, absorbable polymer fibers, including PGA, PLLA, PLGA, and proprietary customer-supplied fibers. All BIOFELT structures are biocompatible and have differing absorption profiles ranging from less than 30 days to 1 year. Used as a component of medical devices or surgical systems, BIOFELT is available in a wide range of densities and thicknesses, and can be produced as flat sheets, discs, tubes, and a variety of other geometric shapes to meet specific performance requirements.
